Section 5
Grave Site Regulations

The following is the current set of commissioners-approved grave site regulations that were last updated March 2025 for Section 5.

Notice to Lot Owners:

These regulations apply only to Section 5 on the East side of the cemetery. (These regulations were adopted March 17, 2025, to comply with Federal Trade Commission Rules and Regulations.)

 1. The Cemetery District clerk must be given 24-hour notice before any burial takes place. This includes casket burials, placement of cremated remains, and placement of permanent markers. Burials will be only in identified designated lots.

2. All casket burials must be done by order of a licensed funeral director. Family members may place cremated remains and headstones, provided the Clerk is given 24-hour notification.

3. No remains or headstones may be removed without permission from the Commissioners.

​

4. Headstones or memorial markers must be set level with the ground.  

 

5. No borders. No coping, fencing, or hedging will be allowed. No decorative rock shall be used.

 

6. The planting of trees, shrubs and ground cover in the cemetery shall not be allowed. The cemetery has the right to remove any trees or shrubs.

 

7. Glass receptacles are strictly prohibited. Plastic or metal vases may be used for flowers. The Cemetery maintenance crew has the authority to remove flowers and holiday arrangements following a holiday.

 

8. Flowers placed on graves may be removed for lawn mowing.    

 

9. Please be considerate of the groundskeeping crew when placing flowers, wreaths, flags, and other emblems. Commissioners can have them removed at their discretion.

 

10. The Cemetery reserves and shall have the right to correct any condition not followed by the lot owner(s), at the expense of the lot owner(s). Prior to correction, notification to the lot owner(s) by the commissioners is not required.

 

11. It shall be the duty of the lot owner to notify the Cemetery of any change in their address. 

 

12. Any lot reserved in advance of need must be paid in full before use.

 

13. It is agreed and understood by those whose signature appears below that a copy of these regulations has been received with the purchase of a lot(s) from Mason County Cemetery District Number One.
